The Hub

Despite having unprecedented access to information, basic literacy skills have not improved in the past 50 years. The traditional concept of a library is being challenged by the digital revolution, but this also offers an opportunity for transformation. The new concept of a library is not about books but about people accessing and sharing information and connecting with each other. This project champions the creation of a space where people are welcomed and have a voice in how the space works. The library will have both a physical and virtual space, with a modular design that allows for flexibility in size and location. The physical space is inspired by the ancient Greek agora, with modules accommodating different functions. The virtual space is an online app that functions as a social network for users to meet, share knowledge and experiences, and organize events.
